Paul McKeown
Technology leader with more than two decades of experience designing, building, and operating complex software platforms across financial services, cloud infrastructure, and identity systems.
Paul's career spans individual engineering contribution through to senior leadership, giving him an unusually complete view of how technology decisions play out at every level of delivery.
He has led engineering teams and programmes at ANZ and Kiwibank, where he designed cloud-native Kubernetes platforms, built CIAM solutions on ForgeRock, established continuous delivery capability across engineering organisations, and presented at industry conferences on delivery risk reduction in financial services. At both institutions he worked at the intersection of architecture, engineering governance, and commercial delivery, shaping the way teams build and operate business-critical systems.
Most recently he served as CTO at Midships Global, a specialist identity and security consulting firm operating across the Asia-Pacific region. He was responsible for platform architecture, engineering governance, and the productisation of consulting capability. He transformed identity platform delivery from bespoke project work into engineered, repeatable systems, introducing configuration-as-code, CI/CD pipelines for identity configuration, and controlled environment promotion. He designed and built engineering, testing and delivery tooling for identity platforms, and led the integration of AI into day-to-day engineering workflows.
His work sits at the boundary between architecture and delivery. He is as comfortable in a detailed technical design conversation as he is advising a CTO on platform strategy or shaping the commercial structure of a complex programme.
Idem is his independent practice, bringing that experience directly to engineering leaders and organisations navigating complex platform and delivery challenges.
